WHAT THEY SAY (a few things)
There is a very wide variety of stuff said about me, and
about Project Xanadu®, on the Web.
Unfortunately, much of it is based on the
foul and scurrilous attack in WIRED in 1995, "The
Curse of Xanadu" by Gory Jackal (I will not deign to give his real name,
or to provide a link to the article, which you can find easily enough).
I believe the piece is a study in cunning and deliberate dishonesty, the
most dastardly piece of dirty journalism I have ever seen. I am still
considering suing for libel but there is a better case for conspiracy-interstate,
which is a federal offense. I believe
this article was intentionally constructed to obliterate any understanding
or memory of what my work, and the work of my colleagues on Project Xanadu,
has been about.
I will not discuss the matter further at this time on advice of counsel.
The very best
and most understanding piece I have seen on
the Xanadu project was done by FEED, an on-line magazine on the Net, at
A fairly accurate piece on my current work in general, by
Will Saletan, is to be found in the December 98 issue of the Swarthmore
Alumni Bulletin.
The summary (correct)
The article itself (FAIRly accurate)
Based on the "currentissue" in the URL, however, this will
be moving to some other address; I'll try to track it.
