Excuse me. MY dictionary says "deprecated" means
1. Supplicate, beseech.
2. Pray against.
3. Express disapproval of.
4. Invoke.
Actually, the universal meaning now is #3. (My dictionary
is one of the very best, but it is from 1919.)
As a native speaker of English, I consider computer slang
"since 1992" to be only a local meaning :)
