The perfect (and preferably efficient)
simulation of
virtual inclusion by reference,
usually across a document boundary,
allowing intercomparison among manifestations,
from one cosmic original.
(We say "cosmic original" and "manifestation"
rather than Object, Instance, Parent, Child or Copy,
to avoid the various technical connotations of
these other terms.)
