Transpayment Methods

Transpublishing will work best with "transpayment" methods, which automatically buy materials from whatever source without notifying the user-- provided they stay under a cost threshold. That will allow separate portions of a Web page to be purchased from several sources, yet be composited seamlesly on the user's screen.

The only such transpayment system we know is being developed the Hypermint (a U.S. company) but in principle there could be others.  One advantage of the Hypermint method can be applied on materials already in place, without moving them.

Other methods, such as Millicent, could be used with materials which are supplied by some specific transpublishing server.
